Social and Heritage Club

The club conducts extension activities for students by involving them into various social movements promoting their citizenship role and sensitizing them towards education, health and environment for the under privileged.

OBJECTIVES

  • Conducting extension activities for students by involving them into various social movements promoting their citizenship role
  • To sensitize RDIAS family towards education, health and environment for the less privileged.
  • Along with community service responsibilities, students are also motivated to participate in heritage conservation and to learn more about their local and natural heritage.

Events (JAN-DEC 2020)

The event was an initiative to spread awareness and information about the importance of water and environment conservation. The event started with a small act on efforts for water conservation by Theatre Society. The skit highlighted the importance of saving and using water judiciously, else our future generations will have to compromise and face shortage of the resources.A drawing competition was also organized for the students of VIII standard. The themes of the competition were Say no to Plastic ́ and Save water ́ .The aforementioned themes were selected in order to inculcate the sense of importance of conserving environment.

Social &Heritage Club, Prayatna, RDIAS, organized a tree plantation drive on January 30, 2019 in the garden area of the college. Around 15 volunteers along faculty members took part in the well-orchestrated plantation drive.he number of saplings planted is immaterial, whatmatters the most is to pay meticulous attention for their nurture, protection and growth.

Access to a quality education is a critical determinant in the future opportunity, success and potential of a child. Through the outreach programme by Social & Heritage Club, Prayatna, the student volunteers along with faculty members provided training on Communicative English to the students of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Begumpur, Rohini, Delhi. In these programs, children at school were provided with an environment conducive to learning, individualized attention by making each session very interactive.

Social and Heritage Club RDIAS organized Diwali celebrations for the members of RDIAS family. The purpose of organizing this event was to celebrate festivals with zeal and enthusiasm as these celebrations convey the message and a feeling of belongingness among all.

A Rangoli making competition was organised by Social & Heritage Club, Prayatna to inculcate traditional values in the students. The themes of the competition were “Say NO to Plastic”́and”Green Diwali Clean Diwali”. ́The students tried to showcase their talent in the best possible way. he Judges of the event were Ms. Smita Dey, Ms. Tanuja Saroha and Ms. Anju Sehrawat. Students explained their respective themes to the judges.

Social and Heritage Club, Prayatna, invited suggestions from the students to make the college plastic free in some or the other aspects. It was an offline event where students had to register on portal and send in their suggestions via email to official email IDs of the organising clubs . It was a team event wherein students participated in a team of two. Overall 15 teams registered for the event and 13 teams submitted their suggestions. This competition inculcated brainstorming among students and the best practical and feasible solution suggested by the students was awarded with a cash prize. The judgement parameters were : Practical Applicability , Ease of Adoption and Impact. Prayatan- the Social & Heritage Club some fun games for amusement as well as to raise funds for an upcoming visit to government school on the occasion of Deepawali. The money raised was used to purchase indispensable items for the children at the school.Through this initiative the institute aimed at fostering the idea of service to the society within the students in addition to irradiating lives of the less fortunate ones. The two main objectives of the event were: generatingfunds and raising awareness among the volunteers and the audience. Apart from this, the plan ensured that everyone- volunteers, staff and the students were on the same page and working towards a common goal while infusing fun and entertainment to the day.

Joy of Giving Month was a month long activity focussing on bringing together people from all walks of life to realise , think and help the club in giving back to the underprivileged in the society. To share the happiness and joy by helping others to better their lives, Social and Heritage Club organized a Joy of Giving Month.Apart from the fundraising, the volunteers also raised cash and kind from their near and dear ones. The items collected were notebooks, reading books, stationery items, napkins, soaps , biscuits , juices, etc. Faculty and staff members also contributed generously for bringing a small difference in the life of under privileged in the society.

The Social & Heritage Club, Prayatna, RDIAS, organized a tree plantation drive by planting saplings in the college premises on August 14, 2019 to mark the campaign ́One Student, One Treeμrun by AICTE. The students of BBA and MBA took part in the well-orchestrated campaign. The volunteers planted saplings at designated spots in the garden area in the college premises. The sessions were delivered by Ms. Kanika Oberoi and Mr. Jatin Bharara, MBA III Students.

A Blood doantion camp was organised in Association with Human Care Foundation and Red Cross Society of India. the students registered for the donation by filling a form, pre-donation screening, blood donation and post blood donation care. There were 121 students and faculty members who registered for the donations and 60 students were allowed by doctors to proceed for blood donation after screening. The donors actively contributed in this kind & generous event.

A MDP was condcuted on March 30, 2019 conducted MDP for farmers of Jajl Village Sonipat. The aim of this Management Development Program was to educate and inform the farmers about the latest happenings in the field of Agriculture. This informative 2 hours (10:30 AM to 12:30 PM) session shed light on the techniques of getting the better yield through experts from Isagro (Asia) Agrochemicals Pvt Ltd. Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Regional Marketing Manager-North, Mr. Vikram Joshi, Regional Manager (Sales) and Mr. Gaurav Jindal, Assistant Professor from RDIAS were the key resource person.

Social & Heritage Club along with Media Management Cell & Publication RDIAS organized Captivating Flyer Competition From March 10- March 25, 2019 for MBA& BBA students. Theme of the Competition was “Promotion of Social & Heritage Club”.The aim of this competition was to make students utilize their presentation and creative designing skills and create attractive flyers for the promotion of Social Heritage Club in future.

To make them realize about the need of extra-curricular activity, learning by doing activities were performed on March 16, 2019 in the school premises. All these activities are based on building self-confidence, representative skills, initiative skills as well as knowledge about the carrier which they could opt in their future.The main focus was made on the students who had stage fear or who were not willing to take initiative in the activities.The motive of this activity was to make them realise about their self-worth. Other carrier streams, on which students can focus, were also discussed with students also.

A short documentary competiton was organised on the theme of ” Anti Plastic Camapign” and “Explore Delhi” . The aim of this activity was to make students realise the importance of environment conservation . Another aim of this activity was to make students visit monuments of historical legacy and study the efforts done by government and other non profit organisations to preserve these important monuments.

In commemoration of 150 Anniversary of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi ,Social &Heritage Club of Rukmini Devi Institute Of Advanced Studies organized a visit to Government School of Jajl in Haryana. The event was an initiative to spread awareness about the importance of hygieneand cleanliness among the less fortunate.

One-day Health Camp: RDIAS organized Health & Wellness camp in Community Centre, Jajl Village in association with MIW Foundation. The camp was organized from 10:00 am to 02:00 pm with the help of Doctors from Amretis hospitals, Gurugram. For all the patients, necessary blood sugar test and blood pressure test was done before the consultation.
